Local News in Brief : Altadena Man Dies in Verdugo Road Crash

An Altadena man lost control of his car on Verdugo Road in Glendale and crashed into a tree, killing him and slightly injuring a passenger, Glendale police said Friday.
Police said the accident occurred at 11:40 p.m. Thursday when Eric Mitchell, 24, was driving south at high speed on Verdugo near Monterey Road. The car slid sideways 250 feet and went off the road before the driver’s side of the auto struck a tree, police said.
Mitchell was fatally injured, police said. His passenger, Stacey Jackson, 34, of Pasadena, suffered minor injuries and was in good condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
