A 3-year-old boy was critically injured when he fell from the seventh story of a downtown Los Angeles residential hotel while playing with his cat, authorities said.
The boy, Jovan Grant, was taken to County-USC Medical Center with multiple injuries suffered when he fell out of a bathroom window Wednesday night after he stood on the toilet and climbed onto a four-foot-high windowsill, Los Angeles police said.
The toddler’s mother, who was cooking in the next room and watching over two younger children, had left the window open, believing it was too high to pose any danger to the children, Lt. Steve Day said.
Jovan, who landed on the blacktop in an alleyway that runs beside the Frontier Hotel, at 111 West 5th St., suffered injuries to his face, right leg and chest, as well as other internal injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said.
