Even if vacation-tip videos are only, at best, supplemental to guidebooks, one expects a lot from Fodor’s, the well-established travel-book publisher. But this is very disappointing: The first part of the 75-minute tape is a trite travelogue, the “travel tips” section doesn’t specifically deal with Hawaii (there’s even a segment recommending taking trains that doesn’t apply to the islands) and the section at the end giving scanty information on Hawaiian hotels visually consists of still (!) photographs of the exterior and a room of each establishment. Not much help--nor is the enclosed 30-page booklet.
