The Shasta County health department is recommending shots for anyone who ate at a Redding fast-food restaurant where a food handler was diagnosed with type A hepatitis. Health officials suggest that customers who stopped at the Burger King near Interstate 5 on Cyprus Avenue between the hours of 5 and 11 p.m. on May 3, 4, 5 and 7 get a gamma globulin shot by Friday. People who patronized the restaurant during the same hours on May 10 to 13 should be inoculated by May 27, officials said. Officials said gamma globulin shots can help prevent hepatitis or lessen symptoms for those already infected.
