The World Bank announced new programs to aid women in eight countries where male interests traditionally dominate. The countries are Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Morocco and Mexico. “You will see pathfinding investments on behalf of women in a wide range of activities--in education generally, in both formal and informal training for employment, in agricultural extension and financing, in health and family planning services and in environmental protection,” said Barber B. Conable Jr., president of the World Bank.
