Claremont McKenna College held its 41st annual commencement Sunday. Degrees were conferred on 213 students.
Keynote Speaker: William Styron, Pulitizer Prize-winning author, said: “It is doubtless true that history, as Stephen Dedalus declared, is a nightmare. But I believe that we awaken from it and that when we do, we are able to erase its anguish through the serene and composed energy of art. Those who teach us are the mediators between art and ourselves and therefore are the only reliable link between what we know and what remains to be revealed about our destiny on this planet.”
