Presidential Election

In two words, Bush has summed up the Reagan Administration philosophy for the past seven years.

His answer to a question on Reagan’s vow to veto the trade bill is that while giving workers 60 days’ notice before layoffs is “compassionate,” it would not be “competitive.”

Competitiveness above compassion has been Reagan’s trademark from the beginning and Bush has said nothing, and done even less, to indicate he will view things differently.

Let’s hope that in November we will elect the candidate whose priorities are the reverse: Compassion first. Competitiveness somewhere down the list.
