Women’s Clubs

It was quite exciting to read on the very front page of The Times a story about the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, still the largest group of volunteers in the world. The article stirred up quite a controversy here in Orange County. Those to whom I have spoken felt the story seemed to depict women’s clubs in a negative fashion, rather than expounding on the many humanitarian services.
Our club, with a membership of 340 members is the largest Federated club in California. We would like you to know that volunteerism and club loyalty are alive and well in Orange County.
In a way, we are fortunate in that we do not own a clubhouse, thereby making it possible for the proceeds from our fund raising to be donated to the many philanthropic groups.
