ON THE TOWN: It was hard to miss Magic Johnson, who dropped by the Universal Amphitheatre last weekend to check out Morris Day’s show. And talk about good luck--someone from Warners Records slipped Magic a copy of Prince’s “Lovesexy” album. . . . Meanwhile, local dance-funksters Chain Reaction headlined the Roxy Sunday night. The band has a cover version of the Rascals’ “Good Lovin’ ” in the new Cannon movie, “Salsa,” and a host of dancers from the film stopped in to see the show--and got up on stage for a serious shakedown when the band performed the song live. . . . And check out the new issue of Vanity Fair, which features an illustrated guide to “Laker Mania,” focusing on which entertainment-biz big-wigs have locked up the Lakers’ much-coveted 128 court-side seats. Capitol/EMI Records chief Joe Smith’s four season seats cost nearly $40,000, while scalped tickets go for $1,000--and up--at playoff time. Other pop moguls and stars who were listed in the court-side chart include Neil Diamond, Tina Turner, producer Richard Perry, Glenn Frey, Marlon Jackson, MCA Records chief Irving Azoff, Warner Bros. Records chief Mo Ostin and manager Ken Kragen.
