Nominees Announced for Athlete of Year

Boy and girl athletes representing each league have been nominated for the 1987-88 Orange County Athlete of the Year.
The award, presented by the Orange County Athletic Directors’ Assn., includes a $500 scholarship for each winner. The winners will be announced at the athletic directors’ spring meeting Wednesday, May 18, at the Anaheim Stadium Club.
The male nominees:
Curt Sacks, Cal Lutheran (Academy League); George Lynch, Mater Dei (Angelus League); Brett Schultz, Canyon (Century League); Chris Facione, El Dorado (Empire League); Terrence Mahon, La Habra (Freeway League); Sean Cheatham, Rancho Alamitos (Garden Grove League); Michael Fleischli, Orange Lutheran (Olympic League); Fred Jenkins, Valencia (Orange League); Adam Keefe, Woodbridge (Pacific Coast League); Sean Therien, Saddleback (Sea View League); Bret Johnson, El Toro (South Coast League), and Kaleaph Carter, Edison (Sunset League).
The female nominees:
Jennifer Baker, Newport Christian (Academy League); Lynne Hagan, Mater Dei (Angelus League); Suzie Barnett, Villa Park (Century League); Danielle Reaves, Esperanza (Empire League); Sabryna Welch, Fullerton (Freeway League); Julie Martin, Kennedy (Garden Grove League); Debi Waller, Whittier Christian (Olympic League); Michele Granger, Valencia (Orange League); Alicia East, Orange (Pacific Coast League); Chickie Moiso, Corona del Mar (Sea View League); Sheri Bertell, Mission Viejo (South Coast League), and Tami Chick, Huntington Beach (Sunset League).
