Cattlemen in Mexico Ask Drought Assistance

MEXICO CITY — Cattlemen are calling for federal help to confront drought in parts of both northern and southern Mexico, the newspaper Excelsior reported Tuesday.
The newspaper said that water levels are low in dams in the Pacific coast state of Guerrero, in the south, and the Nuevo Laredo area of the northeastern state of Tamaulipas because of insufficient rain over the last half year.
Among other states affected are Oaxaca in the south, particularly in the Tehuantepec Isthmus region.
