Prep Softball : Trabuco Hills Freshman Is Perfect

Freshman Marta Bickert threw a perfect game to lead Trabuco Hills High School to an 11-0 victory over Costa Mesa in a Pacific Coast League game Thursday at Trabuco Hills.

Bicker, who has six no-hitters this season, struck out 16 batters.

Kathy McNeill went 2 for 2 with a double and a triple for Trabuco Hills (10-12, 3-5).

In other Pacific Coast League play:

Laguna Hills 1, Woodbridge 0--Margo Melendrez scored the game’s only run and pitched a two-hitter to lead visiting Laguna Hills. Melendrez (13-8) had a no-hitter going into the top of the seventh, but Woodbridge’s Nancy Johnson broke it up with a bloop single.

In the Century League:

Canyon 10, Santa Ana Valley 0--Sara Roberts (4-3) threw a one-hitter to lead Canyon at home. Krissy Kyriazis went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored and Lena Forbes went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Canyon (15-7-1, 6-1-1). Santa Ana Valley is 2-13 and 2-6.

Villa Park 8, Foothill 1--Suzie Barnett hit her fourth home run of the season to lead a 10-hit Villa Park attack at home. Winning pitcher Munique Hernandez (8-6) allowed four hits. Villa Park (12-13, 6-2) scored in every inning but the sixth.

In the Empire League:

Los Alamitos 6, Esperanza 1--Visiting Los Alamitos outhit Esperanza, 8-3. Cara Dane was 3 for 3 for the Griffins (11-9, 5-3). Christy Bowles was 2 for 4 with a solo home run. Julie Harris went 2 for 4 and Gerri Glover added a solo homer for Los Alamitos. Esperanza is 4-4 in league.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 4, Buena Park 0--Terri Van Sickle was 3 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for visiting Sunny Hills. Laura Shea was 2 for 3 and scored a run and Amy Huett had 12 strikeouts in pitching a 2-hitter for Sunny Hills (11-14, 6-1). Buena Park is 4-3 in league play.

La Habra 7, Fullerton 3--Christine Marija tripled and singled for host La Habra (6-2 in league). Benna Kennedy went 3 for 4, including an RBI triple, for Fullerton (7-15, 4-4).

In the Orange League:

Savanna 3, Magnolia 0--Rosie Ferrante and Lisa Hawthorne each went 2 for 3 to lead host Savanna (16-9, 5-3). Ferrante had a triple and also scored two runs. Nadine Ditto (14-9) tossed a three-hitter, striking out five.

Valencia 18, Anaheim 5--Winning pitcher Michele Granger (17-3) allowed 4 hits and struck out 13 at home. Granger also went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs for Valencia (17-6, 5-3).

Western 4, Brea-Olinda 0--Ivy Pinkerton (5-1) allowed 2 hits and struck out 10 to lead Western at Brea. Western (14-9, 7-1) had only three hits but took advantage of six Brea-Olinda errors. Western’s four runs were unearned. Brea-Olinda is 5-3 in league play.

In the Academy League:

Liberty Christian 17, Newport Christian 7--Jenny Enstrom went 5 for 5 with 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored for Liberty Christian at TeWinkle Park in Costa Mesa. Newport Christian is 2-8.

In the Sunrise League:

Rosary 19, St. Matthias 2--Louise Grimm and Sheila McNeil each went 4 for 4 for visiting Rosary (15-6, 8-0). Grimm scored 4 runs and had 4 RBIs and McNeil added 3 RBIs in a 14-hit attack for Rosary.
