By a unanimous vote, the Avalon City Council rejected a proposal to convert a donated restroom trailer to a temporary shower facility for visitors and recreational boaters.

The cost estimate was $68,925, about 3 1/2 times a previous estimate. City staff was directed to dispose of the trailer.

In other action, council members, acting as the Community Improvement Agency, said they will consider resurfacing Whittley Avenue after receiving a petition, signed by 91 residents, that the pavement is hazardous.
