Local News in Brief : Free Rides Set for Election Day
The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council on Tuesday voted to spend up to $1,000 in special transportation taxes to transport voters free to the polls on the June 7 and Nov. 8.
Voters can call either PV Transit or Peninsula Dial-A-Ride for a lift to their polling place and then can use their voting stub for a free ride on another day.
PV Transit and Peninsula Dial-A-Ride are transit services operating in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Palos Verdes Estates and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Rancho Palos Verdes is the lead agent for both transit services. The other participating Peninsula cities will not be asked to contribute to fund the experimental free ride.
