Sexual assault charges were filed against a 36-year-old Sepulveda man Wednesday in connection with incidents involving four elderly women, three of whom lived in San Fernando Valley convalescent homes.

Anthony Lloyd Roy, who works for a moving company, is charged with two counts of rape, three of residential burglary and one each of assault with intent to commit rape, attempted residential burglary, attempted rape, prowling, forcible oral copulation and sexual battery.

The complaint against Roy alleges that he broke into Northridge Gardens Retirement Home in the early morning hours of Jan. 21 and raped a 73-year-old woman who had left the front door of her room unlocked. A knife, believed by police to have been used to threaten the woman, was found under the victim’s pillow, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Candace Foy-Smith.

Roy returned to Northridge Gardens on Feb. 4 and stole a knife from a 67-year-old man, the complaint alleges.

On Feb. 21, Roy broke into a Chatsworth home, held a 61-year-old widow at knifepoint, and raped her, Foy-Smith said. Fingerprints found on a sliding glass door matched Roy’s, she said.

The complaint also alleges that on March 25 Roy broke into Los Angeles Housing for the Elderly in Woodland Hills, beat a 72-year-old woman and began making sexual advances. The woman resisted the attack, and Roy fled, the complaint said.

Thirty minutes later, a 79-year-old woman in the same housing complex noticed that a screen had been removed from one of her windows and called police. Footprints were found in the soft mud outside her window, Foy-Smith said. Roy is charged with attempted burglary and attempted rape in connection with the incident, she said.

Two weeks later, on April 8, a man matching Roy’s description was seen lurking in some bushes outside the apartment of a 76-year-old woman. Roy is charged with prowling in connection with the incident.

Roy was arrested April 18 in Sun Valley after his fingerprints were matched to those found Feb. 21 in the Chatsworth home, Foy-Smith said. He was identified by other victims by a rose tattoo on his chest, she said.

Roy is being held in County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in San Fernando Municipal Court.
