Henley Manufacturing Corp., a company that is 55% owned by Henley Group of La Jolla, reported net income of $13.9 million on revenue of $155.3 million for the first quarter ended March 31. For the same period last year, Henley Manufacturing reported net income of $4.1 million on revenue of $149.1 million.
The increase in this year’s profit was attributed to a $8.4-million after-tax gain from the sale of the company’s equity interest in ACI International Ltd. of Melbourne, Australia. ACI has a 49% interest in a Wyoming soda ash mine operated by Henley Manufacturing’s General Chemical subsidiary.
