Citing cost-control programs, Fisher Scientific Group of La Jolla reported a doubling of profits on flat revenue for the first quarter ended March 31.
A manufacturer of supplies and instruments for the medical research and clinical markets, Fisher reported a profit of $8.8 million on revenue of $229.4 million, up from a profit of $4.3 million on revenue of $220.2 million for the same quarter a year ago.
