StarTel Corp. posted net income of $145,000 for the first quarter, compared to a loss of $716,000 for the like period of 1987. Revenues rose 67% for the quarter ended March 31, 1988, to $3.1 million from $1.9 million a year earlier. Don M. Berry, chairman of StarTel, said the increases in revenue and profit were due to redirecting the company’s marketing efforts to direct sales instead of distributor sales and to an improvement in its international markets. StarTel, located in Irvine, makes and markets telecommunication systems with integrated voice, data, database and networking capabilities.
