Israeli Troops Push Into Lebanon
BEIRUT — Israeli troops thrust into southern Lebanon today in an apparently massive search for Palestinian guerrillas and Israeli warplanes staged mock raids over Palestinian bases, Lebanese security sources reported.
The NBC television network, in a brief report monitored in Washington, said 2,000 Israeli troops crossed into Muslim- and Palestinian-controlled territory outside the Israeli-proclaimed “security zone,†looking for Palestinian guerrillas involved in attacks on Israeli targets. There was no official word on the report from Lebanon and Israel.
