Class of ’88 Is Up by 40,000 Students

WASHINGTON — Nearly 40,000 more students will graduate from public high schools this year than the previous year, the Department of Education said Friday.
The department’s Center for Education Statistics forecasts that 2.47 million students will receive diplomas at public high schools for the 1987-88 year, about 1.7% more than last year’s 2.43 million.
