The instruments are the reason for this recording, but it is the lithe, sprightly performances of mostly unfamiliar, mostly very attractive pieces that make it a joy. Intonation and ensemble suffer a bit in some of the faster movements, but stylish aplomb never forsakes the players and their efforts are captured in clean sound.
