CSUF’s Dance Theater to Perform in Yugoslavia
Dance Repertory Theatre, an adjunct of Cal State Fullerton’s department of theater and dance, will perform Joan Woodbury’s “Unaccompanied Achilles†at the Dubrovnik Spring Music Festival in Yugoslavia June 20-27.
The eight-member company of undergraduate and graduate dance students and dance faculty received the invitation through Dubrovnik connections of CSUF theater professor Donald Finn, who is associated with a theater company there.
The company has raised about $10,000 for the trip from grants and other campus awards. Another $5,000 would enable the company to bring along some production assistants, according to Barbara Arms, the artistic director. A May 7 preview performance will be open to contributors donating at least $25 toward the trip.
Woodbury, co-artistic director of the Salt Lake City-based Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, is currently in residence on the CSUF campus to help dancers with her new work. The piece also will be performed during Dance Repertory Theatre’s regular fall season, Nov. 17 to 20.
