Bridgestone Corp., Japan, announced that it has accepted the tender of about 23.8 million common shares of Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. under its offer to acquire all the company’s common shares at $80 each in cash. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bridgestone said it holds a total of about 30.6 million Firestone common shares, or 96.4%, and expects to acquire the rest through a merger of the two companies. The offer expired on April 26, according to the filing.
