Some senior pro golfers are unhappy about PGA Tour commissioner Deane Beman’s playing in the Legends of Golf tournament, which starts today at Austin, Tex.

Beman, who became eligible when he turned 50 last week, will be the first chief executive of a professional sport to actually compete in the sport he rules.

“I have some quiet reservations,†Arnold Palmer said. “For example, what if he has to call for a ruling (from PGA Tour officials who are subject to Beman’s authority)? What if he wins?â€
