Maybe the new U.S. tax law isn’t so confusing after all. The Internal Revenue Service said the number of taxpayers who asked for automatic four-month extensions of the April 15 filing deadline was 18.4% below last year’s mark. Slightly more than 5 million extensions were requested last year, and because of the new law, the IRS had anticipated 6.2 million this year.
