Reviews of AFI Festival Movies : SUNDAY
Following are reviews for the American Film Institute Film Festival. All screenings are at the Cineplex Odeon Century Plaza Cinemas .
‘The Last Straw’
Canada, 1987, 96 minutes, 12:15 p.m. A low-key, tongue-in-cheek yarn about a man who’s discovered to have the highest sperm motility in the world and quickly signed to service a fertility bank. Film maker Giles Walker devises a fiendishly clever social satire that threatens to sink into the bog of bad taste (but doesn’t). Apart from some ill-conceived digressions into slapstick, it strikes its targets with amazing accuracy.
RECOMMENDED.
