‘Eulalia’
Costa Rica, 1987, 89 minutes , 10:15 p.m . A sarcastic version of a typical Costa Rican soap opera (poor girl from the provinces finds hard knocks, rotten lovers and glorious triumph in the city) in which reality rubs against the cliches, making them more plausible and more humorous. Director Oscar Castillo, unfortunately, has a heavy hand with the actors; he may be skewering the heart of soap opera, but it fights back.
