‘Friendly Fire’
U.S.A., 1979, 145 minutes, 7:30 p.m. Room 108, Warner Building, AFI,
2021 N. Western Ave., Hollywood. Wrenching saga of one family’s frustrating efforts to learn the truth of their son’s death in Vietnam. Based on a true incident, the film tends to overstate its case but the central performances by Carol Burnett and Ned Beatty bring it all powerfully back home. An Emmy-winning drama with a strong balance of statement and emotion.
