Local News in Brief : Man Slain, Apparently During a Drug Deal
A Sunland-Tujunga man was slain early Saturday, apparently as he was robbed during an attempt to buy drugs from two men outside a Pacoima housing project, Los Angeles police said.
James Conrad Voldseth, 28, was seen about 2:30 a.m. pulling up in front of an apartment building at 12601 Pierce St., where two young men approached his automobile, Detective Art Castro said.
The two men entered Voldseth’s yellow 1969 Chevrolet, and one of them stabbed him several times in the chest, Castro said. The attackers left Voldseth on the street and drove off in his car, the detective said.
“We believe it was a drug rip-off,” Castro said.
Police Saturday were trying to identify the killers and were searching for the stolen car.
