Community College Roundup : Taylor Leads Saddleback Past Citrus

Patti Taylor pitched a four-hitter and had an RBI single to lead Saddleback College to a 2-1 victory over Citrus in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Wednesday at Citrus.
Taylor (23-3) had 7 strikeouts to bring her total to 246 this season. She also drove in Saddleback’s first run with a single in the second inning to score Tiffany Carresi, who had singled to open the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice.
Joy Tiner opened the fourth inning with a triple and scored on a single by Kim Larkins for Saddleback (24-3, 11-0). Citrus scored in the sixth inning.
In another Orange Empire Conference game:
Cypress 3, Rancho Santiago 0--Colleen Moore had an RBI single in the second inning for visiting Cypress (21-11, 9-3). Noel Parker (11-6) pitched a complete game.
In the South Coast Conference:
Golden West 11, Mt. San Antonio 1--Kathy Ellis pitched the first four innings to get the victory and had three hits and three RBIs for host Golden West (11-11, 6-3). Lorna Payne and Kris Bodenbender had two hits each for Golden West, which had 12 hits.
Fullerton 3, Pasadena 2--Fullerton (33-8, 10-0) scored three runs in the fourth inning without a hit at home. Stacy Roberts, Pasadena’s pitcher, walked in two runs, and another scored on an error. Kristin Jacobs got the victory for Fullerton.
In South Coast Conference volleyball:
Golden West 3, Westmont 1--Lee Moore had 20 kills and Eddie Rapp had 65 assists as host Golden West won, 15-10, 15-11, 18-20, 15-6.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:
Riverside 8, Rancho Santiago 1--Omar Shary defeated Yancy Dodson, 6-4, 6-1, for Rancho Santiago’s only victory.
