Local News in Brief : Fullerton : Forum Will Focus on Minority Dropout Rate
The high rate of dropouts among minority students will be the topic of a forum for high school superintendents and principals Saturday at Cal State Fullerton’s University Center Theater.
The forum, “Enhancing the Educational Success of Minority Students,†is sponsored by the university’s Community Minority Affairs Advisory Council. University President Jewel Plummer Cobb will address the group when the forum begins at 8:30 a.m.
“As educators and leaders, we must collectively address the critical problems that face us of the disproportionate number of minority students who do not make it through the public educational system, particularly high school,†Cobb said in announcing the forum.
“We must form partnerships with secondary schools to ensure open access to educational opportunities for everyone. If we do not, this educational crisis will jeopardize the economic and political stability of our region and state.â€
