Italian TV reporters, angered by the live telecast of a soccer match during a journalists’ strike, staged a retaliatory walkout in Rome on Friday that halted all newscasts by the state-controlled RAI network. RAI telecast the exhibition soccer match between the national teams of Italy and Yugoslavia on Thursday night, reportedly bowing to pressure from sponsors who had invested about $300,000 in advertising at the Yugoslav stadium. The telecast was without comment and viewers could hear only the crowd noise.
