Prep Roundup : Servite Goes on Attack Again With 26-0 Win
Chris Melodia and Tom Szymanski each drove in five runs as Servite High School defeated Las Vegas Western, 26-0, Thursday in the Las Vegas tournament’s consolation semifinals at Western.
The game was called after five innings because of a 2-hour 15-minute tournament time limit.
Earlier in the day, Servite lost its first-round game to Valley, 2-0. The Friars then beat Gorman, 2-0, to advance to the consolation semifinals.
In the San Luis Obispo tournament:
Ocean View 6, St. Ignatius 2--Matt Bertran and Gary Christopherson each drove in two runs to lead Ocean View (8-3-1) at Sinshemir Park in San Luis Obispo.
In the Mt. Carmel Swimming Invitational:
Kristin Winn of Mission Viejo won the girls’ Trophy Dash with three first-place finishes. Winn won the 100 butterfly (1:59.89), the 200 freestyle (1:53.50) and 200 individual medley (2:09.70). Her times qualify her for All-American consideration in those events.
