Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Woman in Crosswalk Struck by Car and Killed
A woman walking home after visiting her son was killed by an allegedly drunk driver as she crossed Hamilton Avenue on Wednesday night.
Bengie Nosrat, 58, was dead on arrival at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital after the 8:25 p.m. accident. Police said she was in a crosswalk on Hamilton between Magnolia Street and Bushard Street when she was struck by a 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Richard Sabbatis, 30, of Costa Mesa.
Sabbatis, who was driving west on Hamilton, was booked at the Huntington Beach Jail for drunk driving and manslaughter, and bail was set at $25,000, Sgt. Lloyd Edwards said. Sabbatis was driving with a suspended driver license, Edwards said.
