Atlantic Richfield will probably earn more than $366 million in the quarter ending today, a surge of at least 52%, Chairman Lodwrick M. Cook told analysts in New York. Cook disclosed that Arco will realize a $110-million one-time gain from its recent purchase and subsequent sale of shares in Britoil, the United Kingdom oil company which Arco recently tried but failed to take over. But he said various other charges against earnings will offset most of the Britoil profit.
