Francis Pandolfi has been named president of Times Mirror Magazines, effective April 18. He will supervise Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Popular Science, Home Mechanix, Ski Magazine, Skiing, Golf magazine and Yachting. Pandolfi fills the position left vacant by the death of Andrew Dempsey in January.

Pandolfi, 45, formerly was vice president and publisher at CBS for a group of 40 special-interest magazines, including such major monthlies as Road & Track, American Photographer and Audio. After leaving CBS in 1982, he acquired and has been the chief executive of Lifeboat Associates, a publishing company specializing in software-development products.
