The first Winter Pan American Games will be held in Argentina in July 1989, the Pan American Sports Organization announced.
Officials said the site of the games was expected to be the mountain resort of San Carlos de Bariloche, 1,000 miles southwest of Buenos Aires, or the new ski resort of Las Lenas, 660 miles west of Buenos Aires.
