Prep Roundup : Pinto Runs to Three Victories as Katella Girls Beat El Dorado

Martha Pinto won three events to lead the Katella High School girls’ track and field team to a 73-54 Empire League victory over El Dorado Thursday at Katella.
Pinto won the 880-yard run in 2 minutes 36.2 seconds, the mile in 5:49.2 and the two-mile in 14:24.9.
In Empire League boys’ track and field:
Katella 93, El Dorado 42--Brian McDaniel won the 100-yard dash in 10.5 and the long jump with a leap of 19-6 for host Katella.
In the Angelus League boys’ track and field:
Mater Dei 97, Pius X 30--George Lynch won the 330-yard intermediate hurdles in 41.5 and the 120-yard high hurdles in 15.6 for host Mater Dei (2-0).
Servite 83, Bishop Amat 44--At Bishop Amat, freshman Mike Sullivan won the 100 meters (11.1) and 200 (22.6) and ran the leadoff leg of the winning 440 relay (45.6).
In Angelus League girls’ track and field:
Mater Dei 76, Pius X 42--Sue Eggleston won the 330 hurdles (50.7) and 110 high hurdles (17.2) for Mater Dei (2-0).
In Century League boys’ track and field:
Santa Ana Valley 85, Foothill 45--Jimmy Rodriguez of Santa Ana Valley (1-0) won the 800 meters in 2:02, the 1,600 in 4:29 and the 3,200 10:04 to lead host Santa Ana Valley.
Villa Park 72 El Modena 64--Villa Park’s Jay Benge won the discus with a toss of 141-feet 10-inches and finished second to John Armstrong (53-11 1/2) in the shotput at 51-0, at Villa Park.
In Century League girls’ track and field:
Canyon 95, Santa Ana 27--Allison Franke won four events, including the discus, which she threw 140-10 for a school record.
In Garden Grove League boys’ track and field:
Pacifica 86, Bolsa Grande 37--Rayford Willis won the 100-yard dash (10.1) and 220 (23.7) for Pacifica (1-2).
In Garden Grove League girls’ track and field:
Pacifica 97, Bolsa Grande 24--The Mariners had four double winners in the meet at Pacifica.
In Orange League boys’ track and field:
Anaheim 63, Brea Olinda 59--Wes Schneider of Brea won the 120 high hurdles (16.50), the triple jump (41-2) and was second in long jump (18-6).
In Orange League girls’ track and field:
Brea-Olinda 97, Anaheim 30--Brea’s Tanisha Maze won the 220-yard dash in 26.94, the long jump at 16-5, the triple jump at 35-7 and was on the first leg of winning 440 relay.
In Pacific Coast League boys’ track and field:
Woodbridge 114, Trabuco Hills 22--Woodbridge’s Tim Williams ran the 300-meter hurdles in 40.4 and the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.2.
Laguna Hills 84, Orange 51--Laguna Hills Paul Cook won the pole vault at 13-2.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ track and field:
Woodbridge 126, Trabuco Hills 2--Gina Krouse won the long, triple and high jumps for Woodbridge.
In Sea View League boys’ track and field:
Corona del Mar 88, Tustin 39--Corona del Mar’s Jim Robbins won the 880 in 2:00.6 and the 440 in 52.2, and Eddie Lavelle won the two-mile in 9:58 and the mile in 4:26.
In Sea View League girls’ track and field:
Corona del Mar 82, Tustin 45--At Tustin, Leslie Cashion of Tustin outran Erin Cunningham 11:37.0 to 11:54.0 to win the two-mile.
In Sunset League boys’ track and field:
Edison 84, Marina 48--At Marina, Kaleaph Carter put the shot 56-5, ran 15.1 in the high hurdles and threw the discus 164-0.
In Sea View League tennis:
Corona del Mar 16, Estancia 4--Visiting Corona del Mar won eight of the nine doubles sets. Scott Atkin and Rich Han, the Sea Kings No. 1 doubles pair, won all three sets. Corona del Mar is 7-3, 3-0.
Saddleback 15, Tustin 6--Saddleback (6-3, 1-2) was led by No. 1 singles player Jung Chi, who swept all three sets. Tustin is 0-3 in league play.
In nonleague tennis:
Canyon 9, El Toro 9 (Canyon wins on games, 83-68)--Canyon (10-0) was led by No. 1 singles player Ilkyung Choi, who won, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, to improve to 23-2.
In Pacific Coast League golf:
Laguna Beach 207, Costa Mesa 262--John Gilles, a senior, shot a four-under-par 33 to lead visiting Laguna Beach.
In South Coast League girls’ swimming:
El Toro 102, Mission Viejo 54--Sophomores Cindy Focht, who won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.5 and the 500 freestyle in 5:03.3 and Kindel Mueller, who won the 50 freestyle in 25.7 and the 100 freestyle in 54.9, led El Toro.
In boys’ nonleague volleyball:
Marina 3, Irvine 0--Doug Partis had 11 kills and 10 blocks to lead visiting Marina to a 15-2, 15-4, 15-7 win at Irvine.
Edison 3, El Toro 1--Mark Presho had 14 kills to lead Edison to a 15-4, 15-6, 11-15, 15-5 win at Edison.
La Quinta 3, Fountain Valley 1--Visiting La Quinta (4-4) defeated Fountain Valley, 15-9, 9-15, 15-12, 15-11, behind the play of Craig Frisby, who had 26 kills and 16 blocks. La Quinta’s Tony Price had 19 kills.
