Local News in Brief : Westminster : Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Prankster
- Share via
Police have asked residents to help them find a prankster who has been calling people and identifying himself as a Westminster police detective.
According to about a dozen residents who complained to police, someone telephoned them Monday and Tuesday and told them that they had outstanding parking tickets, Police Officer Robert Amren said.
Residents said the male caller, who sounded about 16 to 22 years of age, identified himself as Detective Larow or Lorrell and said they would be arrested unless they took care of the tickets, according to Amren.
The Westminster Police Department does not telephone people to notify them of outstanding parking tickets, Amren said.
Police are urging those who receive such calls to try to record the conversation and report it to police, he said.
