Irving Bank Corp. has revealed that it is negotiating with unnamed “third parties” about a possible merger, restructuring or sale of assets. The company is facing a hostile $1.08-billion tender offer from rival Bank of New York Co. Irving’s announcement, made through a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, comes about a month after Bank of New York received regulatory approval for the merger.
