THE PREPS : Baseball : Wilson’s No-Hitter Leads La Quinta Past Kennedy, 4-0

Mike Wilson threw a no-hitter to lead La Quinta High School to a 4-0 victory over Kennedy Wednesday in the Garden Grove League baseball opener for both teams at Kennedy.
Wilson (4-1), a senior right-hander, struck out 8, walked 2 and allowed only three balls to be hit out of the infield. He has allowed only one earned run this season for an earned-run average of 0.22.
Mark Dion went 2 for 3 for La Quinta (6-4, 1-0), with a home run and 2 RBIs. Paul Montera was the loser for Kennedy (4-6, 0-1).
In other Garden Grove League games:
Pacifica 7, Los Amigos 3--Host Pacifica (7-3, 1-0) scored five runs in the first inning as it won for the sixth consecutive time. Richard Yukihiro and Wes Castellano each had two-run doubles in the first inning for Pacifica.
Todd Long (3-1) pitched a complete game, and Brett Perryman (0-3) pitched into the fifth and took the loss for Los Amigos (2-6, 0-1).
Bolsa Grande 15, Garden Grove 2--Eric Schreifels didn’t allow a run in his six innings of work and hit a three-run home run for host Bolsa Grande (2-5, 1-0). Schreifels had three hits and Ghassen Hreische had two hits and scored four runs for Bolsa Grande. Andy Miramontes also had two hits for Bolsa Grande. Bolsa Grande scored 8 runs in the fourth on 3 hits, 6 walks and 4 Garden Grove errors.
Rancho Alamitos 11, Santiago 4--Rod McCall hit two home runs and Paul Lee one for host Rancho Alamitos.
In Orange League games:
Valencia 19, Brea-Olinda 1--Rudy Lopez and Nacho Garcia each hit home runs to lead host Valencia (3-3-1, 1-0-1). Lopez had 4 hits and 3 RBIs, Garcia 3 hits and 4 RBIs, Keefe Leasure 3 hits and 5 RBIs and Mike Edwards 4 hits, including 2 doubles, and 2 RBIs for Valencia, which had 20 hits. Robert Navarrette pitched four innings for the victory. Aaron Charlton drove in a run for Brea-Olinda (2-7-1, 0-1-1).
Western 6, Savanna 4--Manny Rodriguez had a double and a triple and four RBIs to lead host Western (4-4-1, 1-0-1). Gary Fernandez had two hits and scored two runs and Jason Fanelli pitched 3 innings of relief for the victory. Jim Young had two hits, including a seventh-inning solo home run, for Savanna (2-6, 0-2).
