THE PREPS : Roundup : Sheans Power San Clemente to Win Over Trabuco Hills

Michelle Shean hit a grand slam and her sister Wendy followed with a solo home run in the fourth inning to lead San Clemente High School to a 6-0 victory over Trabuco Hills in a nonleague softball game Wednesday at San Clemente.
Niqua Monson threw a five-hitter with five strikeouts and a walk for San Clemente (5-2).
In other nonleague games:
Savanna 5, Loara 0--Dawn Saler had three hits and two RBIs for visiting Savanna (4-3). Rosie Ferrante had two hits, including a triple, and Leslie Gerbin (1-1) pitched a two-hitter for Savanna.
Dana Hills 9, Costa Mesa 0--Janae Deffenbaugh and Stacie Cox combined for a one-hitter for host Dana Hills (3-4). Deffenbaugh (2-1) pitched four perfect innings, striking out six.
In the Canyon tournament:
Mater Dei 3, Kennedy 2--Kerry Callahan and Teresa Conway had RBI singles in the fourth inning for Mater Dei (7-2) at Peralta Park. Kennedy (8-4) rallied for one run in the seventh and had the tying run on third base with two out, but Missi Gyde tried to bunt for a hit and was thrown out.
In Empire League girls’ swimming:
Los Alamitos 119, Loara 36--Nicole Williamson swam the 200 freestyle in 1 minute and 57.47 seconds and the 50 freestyle in 25.77, Nicholle Davis swam the 200 free in 2:03.92, Marcie Herron swam the 200 intermediate medley in 2:23.59 and the 500 free in 5:30.13 for Los Alamitos.
In Orange League boys’ swimming:
Anaheim 117, Artesia 27--Matt Bradly won the 100 butterfly (1:02.97), the 500 freestyle (6:02.7) and the 100 free (57.00) for host Anaheim.
In Orange League tennis:
Anaheim 15, Magnolia 3--Glen Ganjai, Anaheim’s No. 1 singles player, swept his three sets for host Anaheim (7-0, 4-0).
Valencia 15, Brea-Olinda 3--Danny Yu swept his three singles matches, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, to lead host Valencia (7-1, 4-0).
In nonleague tennis:
Canyon 14, Sunny Hills 4--Ilkyung Choi (20-2) swept his three matches, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, to lead host Canyon (9-0).
Mission Viejo 10, La Quinta 8--Host Mission Viejo’s No. 1 doubles team of Dave Allen and Ron Enge won all three sets, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1.
In Empire League boys’ track and field:
Esperanza 69, Cypress 66--Visiting Esperanza won the meet when its mile relay team won the final event with a time of 3:29.7 seconds. John Carrow of Esperanza won the mile in a time of 4:29.
In nonconference golf:
Valencia 399, Canyon 419 (18 holes)--Valencia’s J.B. Broms shot a 3-over 75, which was the low round at Alta Vista Country Club.
