Glenn Lipman, Royal High School’s boys’ athletic director, resigned Tuesday because of possible Southern Section sanctions against the Simi Valley school’s athletic department.
Lipman, who was unavailable for comment, said in a prepared statement that he hoped his resignation would conclude a two-week struggle that began when the school’s 4-A division championship soccer team was ruled in violation of Southern Section rules for using a player who participated with a Junior Olympic team during the season.
Lipman and John Duncan, superintendent of the Simi Valley Unified School District, object to Southern Section recommendations that Royal relieve three administrators of their duties.
