The Los Angeles Cobras of the Arena Football League hired Lew Erber as their first assistant coach Wednesday.
Erber, a 13-year assistant in the National Football League, will rejoin Cobra Coach Ray Willsey. They were assistants together with the Oakland Raiders in 1978-81, and Erber also has been an assistant with the Rams.
The Cobras will hold a free-agent tryout camp at El Camino College Tuesday, registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the North Athletic Field.
