Sen. Biden to Be Released From Hospital Today

WASHINGTON — Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.), who underwent surgery designed to prevent blood clots, is scheduled to leave Walter Reed Army Medical Center today, his office announced Wednesday.
Doctors had threaded a special filter into a large abdominal vein on March 16, after the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman developed a blood clot in a lung. The clot dissolved, but Biden’1931502703prevent future clots from developing.
Before his current hospitalization, Biden, 45, had been recuperating at home from surgery to repair a weakened artery supplying blood to the brain. He faces a similar operation on a second artery.
