The three top administrators of Cerritos College have received salary raises and extended contracts, all effective July 1.
The Board of Trustees of the 18,500-student campus has renegotiated and extended the contract of college President Ernest A. Martinez to four years at $90,000 annually. His previous one-year contract was for $88,000. Martinez moved to the Norwalk campus in January, 1987, replacing Wilford Michael, who retired.
Walter C. Magnuson, vice president of business services, received a four-year contract at an annual salary of $78,900. Magnuson, who has been at the college 14 years, had received an annual salary of $75,000.
George Melican, vice president of instruction, received a two-year contract at $74,000. Melican, who has been at the college seven months, previously was paid $70,334.
Additionally, the college approved a 5.2% pay increase for its 270 full-time faculty members. Part-time and temporary instructors, counselors and librarians also received a 5.2% pay raise.
The faculty salary increases coupled with fringe benefits will amount to a budget expense of more than $400,000. The faculty increases are retroactive to Jan. 1.
