Canada has accepted adoption by the 96-nation GATT trade body of two rulings calling for an end to its discriminatory practices in the liquor and fishing industries. The European Community brought a complaint in 1985 on markups on imported liquor by Canada’s provincial liquor boards. The United States lodged a complaint last year against Canada’s export ban on unprocessed herring and salmon, which cut off the supply of raw materials to its fish processing industry.
