Local News in Brief : Newport Beach : Hoag Hospital Offers Career Day for Students

Hoag Hospital will hold a Career Day on Friday to interest high school juniors and seniors in health-care jobs.
Pam Bolen, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said visiting high school students will meet several Hoag specialists and will tour the facilities.
“Hoag’s Career Day is part of a long-term recruitment effort to combat the continuing shortage of personnel in key health-care areas,” Bolen said.
“Students will explore career opportunities in nursing, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, medical records, cardiology and laboratory.”
Students will pick two hospital departments they would like to visit for part of the day, she said.
The students will also be able to observe specialists in each department they visit and ask questions about career paths, she said.
