Local News in Brief : ‘Big-Time Madam’ Held

A woman whom police described as “a big-time madam” with an international clientele has been arrested at her home in the Hollywood Hills.
Elizabeth Adams, 55, was charged in a felony complaint issued by the county district attorney’s office with pandering, receiving stolen property and grand theft.
Police Vice Sgt. Doug Nelson described Adams as “a big-time madam who sends women all over the world” and who employed “upwards of 100 women” at one time or another.
Adams, also known as Alex Fleming, was arrested in 1982 on suspicion of pimping. At the time, she was living in a $1-million mansion on Stone Canyon Road in Bel-Air. Police seized from the home “trick books” with code names of elite clients in Paris, London, Geneva, Saudi Arabia, New York and Las Vegas, investigators said.
Nelson said Adams was arrested last Thursday after a policewoman, posing as a prospective prostitute, went to the Hollywood Hills home, which was decorated with expensive paintings and jade statues.
The undercover policewoman was told by Adams that she could make “a minimum of $300 an hour,” Nelson said.
