The Air Line Pilots Assn. has petitioned the National Mediation Board to determine that Eastern Air Lines and Continental Airlines constitute a single carrier controlled and operated by Texas Air Corp. and that the combined operations have been held out to the public as a single transportation system. Thus, according to ALPA, Texas Air Corp. maintains Continental and Eastern as separate corporate entities for the purpose of whipsawing organized labor on the Eastern properties against non-recognized labor on Continental, to the disadvantage of both employee groups and to the profit of Texas Air Corp.
